If you have lived in Severna Park for more than a season or two, you already know the summer is not spread evenly across town. It clusters on a short stretch of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard where the B&A Trail, Park Plaza, and Hatton-Regester Green share the same corridor. Everything worth planning around this year is within a mile of that intersection.
That is the useful thing to notice in 2026. Two of the biggest additions to the food scene landed inside Park Plaza. The county's free Sunday concert series still runs at the green at the north end of the corridor. The trail connects them. If you organize a Sunday around those three points, you get a full afternoon without moving the car.
The corridor is the plan
Start with the geography. The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails organization runs a concert series at Hatton-Regester Green, located at the intersection of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Evergreen Road in Severna Park. Park Plaza sits at 550 Ritchie Highway, a few minutes south. Vivi's Chicken n' Mac took a storefront at 544 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. Cafe Mezzanotte and Garten are within the same short drive. The B&A Trail threads all of it together.
For a household that already lives here, the practical benefit is simple. You do not have to pick between the concert and dinner and a walk. They stack.
Sundays at Hatton-Regester Green
The concert series is the anchor most residents build the weekend around, and 2026 is another full season. The Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails concert series opened its 2026 spring run at Hatton-Regester Green on the B&A Trail in Severna Park with the Seth Mitchell Band on Sunday, May 3rd. The format has not changed in years, which is part of the appeal.
A few things to know before you walk over with a chair:
- All concerts are from 4:00pm-6:00pm and are weather dependent.
- There are a limited number of benches available in the area. Bring a chair or blanket.
- Concerts are provided through a grant from the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks.
- The green sits directly on the B&A Trail, so walking or biking in beats parking every time.
The lineup rotates through genres, from acoustic duos to brass groups to Americana and reggae acts with local followings. If you have not been in a year or two, the crowd is still the same mix of stroller pushers, cyclists cooling down, and neighbors who walked over from the streets off Evergreen.
The trick most residents figure out by their second summer: eat before 4:00 or after 6:00, not during. The corridor's restaurants get their weekend rush right when the music starts.
What is actually new at Park Plaza
Park Plaza has been the center of gravity for casual dining in Severna Park for a while, but two 2026 additions are worth paying attention to because they change what the plaza is used for on a Sunday afternoon.
The first is Toastique. Toastique franchise owners Allyson and Mo Jishi, Chris Deli and John Brenner have selected Park Plaza as the site for the gourmet toast and juice bar's second location serving the greater Anne Arundel County market, joining the inaugural site in Annapolis, which has been operational since 2024. The ownership and operations team signed a lease with Continental Realty Corporation for 1,330 square feet of space at the nearly 185,000-square-foot shopping center located at 550 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park, with intentions to begin operations later this year.
Why it matters for a summer weekend: this is the first breakfast-and-juice option in the plaza that reads as a morning destination rather than a pit stop. Toastique sources ingredients locally and produces hummus and berry jams onsite daily, and the juices, currently fresh pressed at the Annapolis restaurant, will be transported each day to the Park Plaza site. Managing partner Allyson Jishi cited the walkability of Park Plaza and the nearby trails as part of the appeal. That walkability is the corridor doing the work.
The second is Vivi's Chicken n' Mac, which is not new to Anne Arundel County but is new to this stretch of B&A Boulevard. Vivi's announced on Facebook that it would close its Edgewater location after operating for a little more than a year, but the business plans to continue expanding in Anne Arundel County with a new location coming soon in Severna Park. Vivi's said it is preparing to open a new Severna Park location at 544 Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. For a resident who has watched the corridor turn over, the Edgewater-to-Severna-Park move is a signal about where the operators think the foot traffic is.
The anchors that did not move
The additions get the attention, but a summer plan works because the older places are still doing what they do.
Cafe Mezzanotte is the one to know about in September, even if you are reading this in July. The restaurant's 6th Annual Art in The Park music and arts festival is set for Sunday September 27, 2026, running 1pm-5pm with live music by Mama's Black Sheep and Sweet Leda, local artists and galleries, live art demos, an all-you-can-eat picnic pavilion, and a wine and beer garden. Put it on the calendar now. It sells the season out earlier every year.
Mezzanotte also happens to be one of the few restaurants in the corridor that publishes its sourcing. The kitchen lists Diehl's Produce for local and regional fruits and vegetables from Severna Park, Millersville Micros from five miles away in Millersville, and Three Bears Creamery from Baltimore for gelato and sorbet. If you have out-of-town guests who ask where locals actually eat, this is the honest answer.
Garten, from the Preserve team in Annapolis, is the other anchor. Known for their award-winning Annapolis restaurant Preserve, with its focus on local ingredients and creative ferments, Jeremy and Michelle Hoffman are bringing the same joy and innovation to Garten, an all-new beer-and-wine-garden concept in Severna Park. Garten is a casual American restaurant and beer/wine garden focusing on seasonality and small plates heavily influenced by chef Jeremy Hoffman's German heritage. A beer garden reads differently in July than in October. Now is when it earns the name.
Park Tavern, on the same block, is the reliable middle option. Park Tavern is part of the 206 Restaurant Group, which also includes Donnelly's Dockside in Arnold, Pratt Street Ale House in Baltimore, Five and Dime Ale House in Hampden, Oliver Brewing Company in Baltimore, and The Ale House in Columbia. It is the place you end up when the concert runs long and Garten's patio has a wait.
When you should leave the corridor
The B&A corridor is the summer plan for most Sundays, but there are two reasons to leave it, both worth knowing.
The first is Kinder Farm Park. The 288-acre park offers a huge variety of natural and recreational activities including hiking, biking, bird watching, fishing and picnicking, and features a 2.4 mile paved perimeter trail that is extremely popular with families for biking as well as jogging and walking, in addition to several miles of natural trails. The perimeter loop is the answer when someone in the house is bored of the trail and wants a change of scenery without a real drive. The park also contains the Garcelon Athletic Complex, which features 6 pristine multi-purpose fields, 4 baseball fields and multiple tennis and basketball courts. If your kid is in a summer league, you already know Kinder. If they are not, it is worth an evening.
The second is the Fourth. The Annual Independence Day Parade is scheduled for Saturday July 4, 2026 from 10:00 AM onwards at 1 Holly Ave, Severna Park. The Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce organizes it. The route spans from Benfield Road to Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. The parade ends at the corridor you already know. Then it hands the day back to the B&A.
The reason it works
A neighborhood summer works when the geography does the planning for you. In Severna Park, the county placed a concert green on the B&A Trail, a shopping center with restaurants at the trail's other end, and a walkable connector between them. The 2026 additions at Park Plaza make the corridor more useful, not less familiar. Nothing here requires you to reinvent your weekend. It requires you to notice that the pieces already line up.
